Training Strength

What burns fat more effectively strength training or doing cardio?
Shouldn’t I preserve as much muscle as possible being that I’m a lean bodied person with very little stomach fat by doing more strength training instead of cardio? What if you have already a lean body but you just want your stomach toned down a bit. Cardio or Strength training?
I would say strength training, because if you are already lean, building a little extra muscle will push through, giving you the appearance of a well developed – sculpted physique.
