Power Systems Training

Need software that records short video/movies of what is happening on the screen of my computer?
I want to make short videos showing people how to use our software systems, then embed the videos into power-point. I planned to find software that records what I am doing on screen so I can play back for training.
It was suggested I try either “Fraps” or “Camtasia”. I tried Fraps but doesn’t seem to work on my computer, think it has something do with my graphics card (I have an intel 256mb gc).
Camtasia is ridiculously priced for what I want to do with the software, anyone know of inexpensive or freeware programs to make simple videos of my computer actions?
While I understand Camtasia is regarded as the best, I don’t think I need the best, just something that will work for a few 30 second videos… anything lower end and cheaper out there?
CAMTASIA! Best screen recorder on the market
you can even edit all your video right in the program. you can also record your power points like you said
