The Bowflex PR 1000 strength training system, one of the most popular selling home gyms on Amazon.com, uses Bowflexes’ ‘patented power resistance rods to deliver a total body strength workout. There are over 30 exercises you can do to blast your arms, abs, back, chest, shoulders as well as legs. There is even a built in rowing station for a cardio workout.

You can combine the power rods to give resistance of 5 to 210 pounds. The sliding rail seat is also used for leg press and leg extension exercises.

The following exercises will give even the most diehard fitness buffs a challenging workout.

• Bench Press
• Decline Bench Press
• Incline Bench Press
• Seated Shoulder Press
• Front Shoulder Raise
• Crossover Seated Rear Deltoid Rows
• Scapular Retraction
• Narrow Pulldowns
• Stiff-Arm Pulldowns
• Seated Lat Rows
• Reverse Grip Pulldown
• Seated Low Back Extension
• Triceps Pushdown
• Triceps Extension
• Standing Biceps Curl
• Wrist Curl
• Seated (Resisted) Abdominal Crunch
• Trunk Rotation
• Leg Extension
• Calf Raise
• Seated Hip Adduction
• Seated Hip Abduction
• Leg Kickback
• Leg Press
A few persons felt that the 210 pounds was not enough and the PR1000 is not upgradable, however this limitation can be overcome by slowing down the repetitions and working to failure to increase the intensity. Still for someone looking to put on some serous muscle mass, another strength training system would be the better option.

Over all the Bowflex PR1000 is a great strength machine for price and the average person who is looking for a decent level of strength and fitness without needing to get huge (and let’s face it, that is most people).
